Here's a forum topic for anyone with helmet cam or similar footage. I suggest uploading to Youtube or similar then posting the link here.

I didn't enter 2010 ... so over to you folks ...

A general forum for footage of any sort of Avon training ... preferably rapids ... good or bad lines.

Lets have another forum for the surf paddlers out there. I have seen cameras out at my local breaks on skis, kayaks and play boats.

I can only kick this off with some pretty token surf videos, someone must have better footage, show us all. Unfortunately surf was not great on these days, but still reasonable length rides.

Some Token Millennium Waves
Some PRS Waves

Someone had to post something here, so why not me.

The Geegelup Cup is held in Bridgetown a couple of weeks after Avon, 20th & 21st August this year, check CWA's DR calendar to be sure.

A great social weekend of white water paddling for those winding down from Avon. Good racing for those participating in the DR state titles too. Very good junior participation and support last year.

Here's some footage from a cruisey run I did last year. I know there is more footage out there, feel free to post more!

Just another Forum for footage.

Ill start this off with a link to my Youtube site. I just added some Bridgetown footage (yea took me a while). Nothing fancy, but I hope to see much more footage here soon.

Admin: How about a Forum group called "General Footage" or something. People will have all sorts of stuff, and "RBP Post-Avon 2009" is not really the right group for it.

I hope to see some footage from the Down Wind Junkies soon. Hard to beat Rambo's footage though, that Wookie (not Rookie) sure knows how to film!

OK, if you're looking for inspiration, look no further.

This is one of our local races here in Perth, and clearly is featuring one of Australia's best paddlers.

Have a good look at the way that Clint is reading the water, bursts of speed are used when needed, and nothing slows the boat.

Good work Clint. Let's hope you're back for it next year!

I've put up this video as a bit of bad weather training inspiration. Looking outside right now there is little chance of getting on the water tonight, so this is food for thought.Take a look at the clean rotation that this paddler is getting. It comes from the leg drive & is translated all the way through the shoulders.Cheers, WP.

chrisselman has put this terrific video up with highlights of his trip down the Avon Descent last year. It gives a great paddlers-eye view of what it's like to paddle really big water on the Avon. I love the bit where he's pitching up and down the big haystack waves, and when he is spun off the river into an eddy.

This is one of my top suggestions in basic core strength exercises for paddlers.

Too many paddlers forget back & glute's in their routines, concentrating on shoulders & ab's. There is no wonder they end out with sore backs or can't apply positive pressure to a paddle after a while in the boat.

Try it & see how you go.

I'll post links to some of my other favourites soon.

Cheers, WP.

I found this video while browsing for good technique footage. The quality at the start is not great, however it gets better as the race goes on.

You will have to study this one a few times, as these boys are moving!
