Powered Support Boat needed for CL

The arrangement in place for a powered support boat has fallen through, so I'm on the hunt for someone willing to bring themselves and their boat along for the evening. The job is to doodle along from Canning Bridge (about 6:15pm) to the end at Ascot Kayak Club, keeping an eye on the field - particularly on the open waters heading into the city, and then follow the back of the field assisting with withdrawals or hassles.

Boat can be anything from a tinnie to a wine cruiser, as long as it can get up the river. Race will reimburse fuel and make a contribution to running costs, plus provide dinner. Is usually a pretty mellow evening's cruise. Talk to Bolders city.lights.race@gmail.com ASAP please.

No more boat offers thanks

... Looks sorted. Thanks frank, Sean, Ted and eric

first CL forecast

Forecast for Sunday's race is looking good for flatwater types - low winds (6-10kt) from the SSW. I'd love to see that pick up, but as long as we don't have to battle a headwind for most of the race I'm happy!

If you're doing this race for the first time, a strong seabreeze will make the bit between the bridge at the 6km-ish point (Mt Henry??) and the Narrows very messy. IMHO best to go quite wide and stay away from back wash off the walls, then surf the waves back in to the portage point.

On another note - I have a paddle leash that someone can borrow, I never use it.
