Plastic or Composite for a beginner?!

G'day everyone, just chasing a few opinions on what to get as a first real ski. I've kayaked a bit before, but that was a few years ago. So I'm basically a beginner, and I'm looking a buying a new ski.

I've been eying off the PRS elite, but was wondering If I'll grow out of a plastic ski too quickly? I won't be using it in any rough white water, I'd be using mostly up and down the Swan River & out on the ocean for fitness.

Does anyone think it would be worth struggling for a bit longer getting used to a fibreglass/composite ski, instead of buying a plastic and wanting to upgrade in the near future? Or am I being a bit too enthusiastic?!

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Plastic or Composite for a beginner?!

Anyone paddled a custom kayaks HORIZON? Thought it might be a good entry level fibreglass....?

If you have paddled before,

If you have paddled before, the horizon sounds like a good starting point. The trouble is resale. When you eventually go to buy a new boat.....everyone does, you tend to loose money on the less common boats.
I would get an epic v10 sports cos every man and his dog wants one second hand, so when you go to sell you'll get good money.
Maybe try a stellar ses glass cos they're cheap and reputedly fast and stable.
The think evo is also a good boat but tend to be expensive.
Definitely go composite because they are simply more fun to paddle.

First fibreglass ski...

Thanks for the reply Dicko.

Had a quick look around on the net today, the epic V10 Sports kinda took my fancy. And from what all the reviews say, it's pretty stable but still pretty quick.

Might need to look into this one some more....

Thanks again!
