Paddling 7 Deadly Sins

Rather be Paddling or ‘Addicted to Paddling’ ???
Attributes of a compulsive paddler
Lust:
You have a perfectly good boat but you always want the next new shiny model which may give you that edge to keep up with the pack.
Gluttony:
You’re lucky to have a collection of boats for all water conditions but you only paddle 1 or 2 while the others collect cob webs. Much to the dissatisfaction of your partner_ this subject seems to make it into most disagreements when you try to make a stand against a purchase she/he wants. You have no legs to stand on really….
Pride:
Those paddlers that wash ride all race, overtake close to the finish line to gain the front position and take the prize and gloat in the satisfaction of another good race.
Envy:
Watching these young guns paddling past as you correct your paddling posture and stick your chest out….. They pass, you let out a breath and your stomach explodes over your knees. Oh well, there’s another purpose for a PFD.
Jealousy:
Work or family commitments restricting you from the water as your paddling buddies prepare for another paddling event or trip. You drop your lip and mope around as the weekend passes by. It can take days to get over such disappointment.
Wrath:
Let’s paint a picture… You’re having a perfectly good time with good friends in a sober, healthy environment, soaking in Gods landscape. Whilst keeping in shape, during daylight hours and without spending money. Time starts to get away from you and it is time to get back home. You walk in the door and the kids (along with the neighbour’s kids) are bouncing off the walls, the dog has pulled out the retic and the house is a mess. You have guests arriving in 15 minutes and you only just remembered. Like a dog with his tail between his legs you walk pass your wife, as steam shoots from her ears. Now comes the ‘Wrath’….. The kids run for their life to the neighbours house (along with your kids), the dog bolts under the house and lights in the house start to flicker. …..bla…. blab…. bla ……Your friends start saying, what ever happened to Johno? I haven’t seen him paddling for a while!
Sloth:
That beautiful aroma from leaving wet gear in the car or around the house
Leaving your white water paddling gear in the container during summer and pulling it out for the next winter to re-use.
