Paddling at Lane Poole Reserve

Has anyone paddled down at Lane Poole reserve recently? We were thinking of paddling Yarragil-Nanga Camp on Saturday and I was wondering what the water would be like.

good paddling

In case you're still chasing info, this is a nice place to paddle, good scenery, a few easy rapids. Pleasant camping (if you avoid busy times/places)

A good level is over a metre at the Baden Powell gauge, but it's paddleable much lower, more info on water levels. It's all rising now, and is likely to be higher on Sunday.

Yarragil to Nanga is very short, but if you're training for the Nanga challenge you can go up and down a few times.

You can paddle from a long way upstream - for a longer trip put in at Dawn Creek Rd or Driver road for a "day" paddle with some nice tree sections (but only if it's over a metre at BP, and don't leave too late).

It can be a long way from Driver road, so anyone doing this in low water should take a map, waterproof matches, a torch and some spare thermals to keep Ski Girl warm while standing around in the dark :)

Hope the trip goes well

No water there either

we wend down for the MD's Adventure race and didn't bother taking the boats. we ended up paddling their local canoes for a stint just upstream of Baden Powel, no where near enough water to go down the rapids though. Try again in a month.

I remember . . .

That was an entertaining trip, and was up there in level of epic (shooting rapids in complete darkness . . .) but has now been superseded by the Midnite Express boys!!!

I'm just not a river paddler really!

Murray Water Levels

Hi Guys, we find that you need a minimum of about 1-1.2 water level at the Baden Powell DOW gauge. More is better!
