Can't see it

I don't believe they would - too many commitments to sponsors, Channel 10 etc.

If a Power Boat cannot get from Northam to Toodyay, they have a problem with the course that cannot be ignored. I think you would see a modified course, no matter how strange or boring.

If you can possibly scrape down it, they'll include it in the course.

low

as i said in a previous year:
the faster k1s & skis will get there, and in reasonable time.

The bulk of plastics (esp short P's)will be struggling. paddling slower in difficult conditions they will be at risk of missing cut-off times.

NotE that cut-off times are now x hours after start time. How they will police that at the point will be interesting. "Here comes 333...he started at...8:45...his cut off is...oh bugger he's gone"

Start time

I believe that's the overall start time - ie. first paddler off the rank - not your individual start time. I don't think those times have changed since my first Descent.

Bolders - it's a valid point though. At what point does the value to the sponsors disappear at the sight of people dragging their faithfully stickered boats down a dry valley? I doubt Channel 10 will be queuing up to show their half-hour special if it's a running race. :)

Henley on Todd

Once it gets below a certain point, surely the publicity goes up !!
