I finally got around to tidying up my footage from the valley run on Sat (0.85 to 0.9m Walyunga). Looking ahead this footage may be similar (or a little lower) than looks probable for Race Day 2.
This footage is a YouTube playlist of most of the main rapids from Posselts Ford to Bells. A few are still uploading so check again tomorrow.
You will see that I don't always take the 'right lines', and bounce around a bit, but I get through them all this time.

With a great water level of 0.8m I had a successful and enjoyable valley run today.
Go to this link for some action photos of all the paddlers coming through Bells today.
Here's some footage from Bin & Rookie's run today ... both lucky enough to have the afternoon off work. We did two runs, but only the first run's footage was worthwhile.
0.5m at Walyunga today around 1pm, so up from 0.4m yesterday. Probably still rising now. 0.5 was quite a lot nicer than 0.4 ... but not as nice as 2+ :-)

Here is some footage of some Ski paddlers going down Bells drop. Very low water level 0.4m Not very exciting yet but enough to blow those cobwebs out. I think you may recognise the first paddler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v6cV4lE23o
There is also some DR boats braving the rocky conditions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9CkmZobmI8
Video Alert_ may hear the sound of composite boat against rock.
I kinda recognise that first paddler (other than the ugly-ass green boat he's driving) but I could swear that was his boat (#920) coming down third. There's summat fishy going on here.
This is good to read, who is that in the green (ahem) ugly ski ... kinda recognize the paddler ... me thinks Juffy knows the answer but is leaving it up to the readers to evaluate ...
Some credit to the green monster and mystery paddler ... let's call the steed the The Hulk ... and it is bloody fast.
The Hulk looked a whole lot prettier too ... before the incident ... oops. Second run seemed to 'fix it' just fine.
... uploading today's footage now ... my battery went flat, but Bin got some good stuff.

The virus can be caught by studying the water level flowing down the Avon River. It affects sufferers to such an extent that they are drawn to the river in various types of paddle craft. Low water usually attracts sufferers in plastic craft and as the water level increases the more fragile composite craft are lured onto the river. The virus will cause a sufferer to need time off work and the best treatment is to gather with other sufferers and paddle together down the valley. Sometimes a car shuffle is recomended to share ideas on treating the virus.
Needless to say I caught the virus this arvo but fortunately I met fellow sufferers (Hi Rookie, tell em about your boat?)) at Walyunga and paddled down to Amiens I feel better now! Another remedy is a dose of T trees and I feel I may need to try this treatment very soon.
I see that Fiasco is also coming down with the virus and wish him well in his endeavours to find a remedy.
seriously, looking for a friend to go down tomorrow. The graph has peaked just under 0.6 today. I can't get a really early start but looks like a nice day
A good paddler is keen to join you. I think you guys would be well matched, quite fast if you wanted to be. He does not have your mobile number (neither do I), and he prefers to remain nameless until in touch haha.
Can you please email me your mobile number? 920rookie@westnet.com.au I will get him to call you back tonight or tomorrow, just say your preferred time.
Hope it works out, it would be a good run, especially if you both film it ... hint hint ...
fiasco, bin and pat made a late run down the valley @ 0.5. It was a bit rocky and scrapy. We had some rudder trouble, a lost paddle and a carbon blade cracked across the middle.
No sign of flying mols, though.

Thanks Fiasco for the run down the valley yesterday. My footage was mainly of the front of the boat. Being that everyone seems to think that my boat is ugly and green, and I know now it is not easily hurt, we have decided to name it "Shrek".

Sorry Fiasco, wrong day. I scored a Thursday off work for the next 3 weeks. If this fits into anyones plans let me know.

Just did a T tree run as recomended by my Doctor for Avon River Virus. Water level on the gauge was 0.43 at 5.00pm - estimate shows 0.52??
So I expect its a bit Rocky up the top end of the valley.
Sorry Fiasco even a medical certificate cant help me get tommorrow off. regards
Short Plastic (or maybe was Short Plastic as now I am using a DR boat)
Hey Maddo, I'm glad I wasn't just seeing things either. I was sure I saw a pig fly on Monday too. A green pig wasn't it? Is that where "Green Eggs and Ham" come from?

Thanks for link guidance Juffy :-)

Bells Footage
Here's a link to a playlist with some footage from a run we did today. We did Walyunga to Amiens Crs, 0.4m at the Walyunga post.
Bells footage was the best (not by me boo hoo). I'll try to fix some of the other footage.
Nothing special, but gives a guide to the level. Happily paddlable in a plastic. Also helps to see how not to do a few of the drops ... oops hehe.

Good footage thanks moo-cow. I wondered if it was you when I went past at some time that day ... not necessarily first paddler ... ?
It is good to see something other than helmet cam footage. There are a few RBP paddlers in that footage ...
0.4m Sun, 0.5 today, perfect for clearing out the cobwebs out.
It's no fun
If none of you are going to fall off. :(

well done, rookmeister
I stayed home Sunday, but I think I may have successfully swung a sickie for Wednesday, so the valley looks good. (and not so bleedin cold and windy)

Sorry Fiasco, I would join you, but I have to work the rest of this week. Shame, would be a good time to do it, good weather and low but OK level.

Absolutely flying!
Word has it that Molokai's fly better on the water than through the air. Hopefully the scuffs can be rubbed out : )
Pigs can fly
Hey Maddo, I'm glad I wasn't just seeing things either. I was sure I saw a pig fly on Monday too. A green pig wasn't it? Is that where "Green Eggs and Ham" come from?
Pigs can fly
I was going to use that subject line, but seeing how I only bumped into you guys yesterday, didn't think it polite to say that about your boat! : )
