Spirit Paddle Series FINAL
Submitted by Ski girl on Tue, 12/01/2009 - 14:33
Provisional final results are up!http://www.wa.canoe.org.au/default.asp?Page=18055
Please check your results and let me know if there are any mistakes (it's a complicated process doing this so I won't be surprised to find I've mucked something up).
Remember you've only received a final ranking if you either:
Did the first five races (in the same category)
Did 3 or 4 of the first five races PLUS the Doctor (in the same category)

Spirit Series points
I have added info above on the final Spirit series results in my blog but in case you don't notice the change to the topic title in recent blog posts, I decided to add a comment to draw your attention to it. :-)
How does the Doctor race 2 work?
If i'm getting this right...
Race 2 of the Doctor is a relay, with each person paddling about 12km up the coast.
how does the change over take place? Do we use the same kayak?
From what I've read we need a support boat? Seems a lot for just a coastal 12.5km x 2 paddle?
Just curious... as to why the second paddler can't just paddle out from the beach at the half way mark and meet the first paddler out there and the first paddler just head into the beach after the change over - thus avoiding the need for a boat and crew?
If i find someone to join me (and a boat and crew) is it just a matter of signing up and turning up on the day with my leash, flare and kit?
Am i allowed to wear a viking helmet (the one with big horns coming out the sides) in this event?
Can I paddle first and blame my second paddler as to why we came last?
So many questions!
Doctor Race 2
Hi pj-
Not sure where you got these details from?? Currently there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info available but I really doubt you'd need a support boat.
Wearing of viking helmets should be encouraged and it's always best to blame the other paddler in a relay if you come last. :-)

The Doctor rules
Yes, the info is a bit scarce on the website.

I got a bit confused with this
The Doctor
Rules & Equipment
All competitors must abide by the following rules:
"All teams event competitors must have a boat that is capable of carrying all their participants with lifejackets for all. The skipper of the vessel must have his RST."
that's race one
Race one can be done as a team, obviously the changeovers are done quite a way offshore. I think last year there was one team, it just sounds like a huge hassle to me!!
